Efficient Installation Guide for Wetwall Bathroom and Shower Wall Panels

Shower wall panel checklist

Perform Panels are designed to be fixed to various surfaces including tiles, concrete, plaster, plasterboard, and chipboard/plywood walls, provided they are sound and in good condition. If the surface is uneven or damaged, timber grounds should be applied vertically at approximately 60cm intervals and horizontally at 80cm intervals as needed. These timber grounds must be checked for accuracy and alignment before proceeding with panel installation.

1. Prepare the Surface:

  • Ensure that the wall surface is clean, dry, and free from any debris or dust.
  • If necessary, repair any cracks, holes, or uneven areas on the wall surface.
  • Check for any protrusions or obstacles that may interfere with panel installation and address them accordingly.

2. Measure and Plan:

  • Measure the dimensions of the wall area where the wetwall panels will be installed.
  • Plan the layout of the panels to optimize material usage and minimize waste.
  • Mark reference lines on the wall to guide the installation process.

3. Cut Panels to Size:

  • Using appropriate tools such as a fine-tooth saw or a jigsaw, carefully cut the wetwall panels to fit the measured dimensions.
  • Ensure that the panels are cut accurately and that any necessary cutouts for fixtures or fittings are made precisely.

4. Apply Adhesive:

  • Apply a suitable adhesive to the back of each panel according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Spread the adhesive evenly over the entire surface of the panel to ensure proper adhesion to the wall.

5. Install Panels:

  • Starting from one corner of the wall, gently press the first panel into place, aligning it with the reference lines.
  • Use a spirit level to ensure that the panel is perfectly vertical and level.
  • Continue installing subsequent panels, ensuring tight seams and even spacing between panels.
  • Trim panels as needed to accommodate corners, edges, or obstacles.

6. Secure Panels:

  • Use panel pins or screws to secure the panels in place, particularly around the edges and corners.

  • Be careful not to over-tighten screws, as this may cause damage to the panels.

7. Seal Joints and Edges:

  • Once all panels are installed, seal the joints and edges using a waterproof sealant.
  • Ensure that all seams are sealed tightly to prevent water infiltration and to provide a seamless finish.

8. Finish and Clean:

  • Remove any excess adhesive or sealant from the surface of the panels using a damp cloth or sponge.
  • Allow the adhesive and sealant to cure fully according to the manufacturer's instructions before using the shower or bathroom.
